Introducing the Tech Assist Program @ MCLIB

Introducing Tech Assist appointments! Make an appointment (up to two weeks in advance) if you need help with a tech question or a gadget. Call 270-442-2510 x119 to make an appointment. 

1st floor Information desk staff and 2nd floor computer lab staff can always offer technology help as time allows for up to 15 minutes at a time. If you need more one-on-one help than this you can now schedule a Tech Assist (half hour) appointment!

Guidelines: 

If you want help with a phone, tablet, or laptop, bring the device and its cords. 

Library staff cannot be held responsible for damage to patron-owned equipment. 

Please have the passwords to access the accounts you need help with. 

Sessions are designed to address a single issue and last for 30 minutes.  

One appointment per person per week. Appointments can be made up to 2 weeks in advance.  

 

Topics covered: 

Download library eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines to your tablet, smartphone, or laptop. 

Navigating databases and other library resources such as KYVL or our catalog. 

Use a Windows computer (ex. navigating the computer, using windows, saving files). 

Using the Internet and search. 

Setting up and using email. 

Microsoft Office Suite and Google apps. 

Basic word processing and spreadsheet questions. 

Basic computer, tablet, e-reader, or smartphone skills (ex. adjusting settings, searching the app store, moving icons on screens). 

Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet. 

Resizing or printing pictures. 

Social Media websites & apps. 

 

Not Covered: 

Typing/data entry. 

Unlocking devices. 

Data transfer. 

Recovering lost data, reconfigurations, or factory resets. 

Setting up devices like smartphones or streaming devices. 

We may not be able to address intermediate or advanced learning on specific software or apps. 

We do not troubleshoot or fix malfunctioning devices, take apart or replace physical parts on a device, handle viruses or virus software, or download and/or install hardware.  

We won’t handle sensitive information such as social security numbers, credit card or other account numbers, or passwords.
