Led by meteorologist Beau Dodson
Learn tips from local meteorologist Beau Dodson in being prepared in the event of severe weather, flooding, or possible earthquakes. He'll cover the emergency equipment your family should have on-hand, how to spot hazardous weather conditions, and how to utilize social media and other online resources for safety.
Dodson is a graduate of Mississippi State University. He is the meteorologist for McCracken County Emergency Management and an advisor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. He is the recipient of The National Weather Service's Mark Trail Award, WPSD-TV's Six Who Made a Difference Award, The Caesar Fiamma Red Cross Service Award, and is a Kentucky Colonel.
Dodson runs the Southern Illinois Weather Observatory. The observatory is equipped with a state-of-the-art weather center, an observation deck that provides a view of incoming weather, and a network of webcams that allow weather conditions from his observatory to be displayed online. It is from this observatory that Beau tracks developing weather and relays information to local offices of emergency management and the National Weather Service, providing forecasters and the media with valuable real-time information.
