Story Time Guidelines

We welcome you and your preschooler to the McCracken County Public Library and to Story Time. We hope that you will enjoy the programs and visit the library often. Story Time is a free program for children age 3 – Kindergarten, and is made available by the McCracken County Public Library. These guidelines concerning the Story Time program are for your information

  • Only children ages 3 and up are allowed to sit in the Program Area. Children under 3 MUST sit with an adult.
  • Preschool children sometimes have short attention spans and often need guidance. They must be accompanied by an adult.
  • One of our goals is to help children learn to listen. We can accomplish this with cooperation of adults who, by their example, help us create a Story Time atmosphere of quite listening.
  • All family members, including babies and toddlers, are welcome at Story Time. However, we ask that you maintain a quiet atmosphere by leaving the room if your baby becomes disruptive.
  • As Story Time ends and you leave the building, please maintain control over your children. Help them to remember that the library is a quiet place where people come to read and study.
  • Please remember that only covered drink containers are allowed in the library.
  • Programs will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays only,
    September 7 – December 21, 2006.
  • Groups of 12 or more must pre-register by calling the Youth Services Department of the library at 442-2510, extension 22.

Our objectives are to enrich, develop, and broaden your child’s experiences. Only through YOUR efforts can we hope to accomplish our goals. We truly appreciate your help and total cooperation as we attempt to educate, entertain, and delight your entire family.
